The Dedicated Freight Corridors of India Limited (DFCCIL) is a public sector undertaking managed by the Ministry of Railways.  DFCCIL was established on 30 October 2006 with the aim of planning, developing, financing, constructing, maintaining and operating transport infrastructure in India.

These developments aim to increase the efficiency and speed of goods transportation by enabling trains to move from existing railways. )) and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). While the EDFC extends from Ludhiana in Punjab to Dhankuni in West Bengal,  the WDFC extends from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai.

This system is expected to  reduce logistics costs, increase the efficiency of the supply chain  and make the supply of goods easier and more reliable, contributing to the overall development of the country. Many major initiatives such as  Digital India and Sagarmala have contributed to the broader goal of economic development and infrastructure development.
