RBI Reports Rs 2000 Banknotes Worth Rs 3.56 Lakh Crore in Circulation as of May 19, 2023

According to the Reserve Bank of India, 98.21 percent of the 2000 rupee bank notes have been restored to the banking system. The RBI said on May 19, 2023 that banknotes of the 2000 Rupee denomination would be withdrawn from circulation.

According to a statement from the RBI, the total worth of Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation at close of business on May 19, 2023 was Rs 3.56 lakh crore. At the conclusion of business on March 31 this year, it had fallen to 6,366 crore Rs.

All bank branches have the Rs 2000 banknotes' deposit and/or exchange facility until October 7, 2023. But the 19 Reserve Bank issue offices still have this service. From any post office inside the nation to any of the RBI-issued offices for credit to their bank accounts, people may now transfer Rs 2000 bills via India Post. Legal tender remains the 2000 Rs banknotes.
