He served as IBA Chairman from 2021 to 2022 and again from 2022 to 2023. Sunil Mehta, his predecessor at IBA, served as the association's chairman from 2018 to 2019 and as MD and CEO of PNB from May 2017 to September 2019.

Atul Kumar Goel assumes charge as Chief Executive of IBA
According to the Indian Banks' Association (IBA), Atul Kumar Goel has taken over as the organization's Chief Executive (CE). From February 2022 to December 2024, Goel served as Punjab National Bank's (PNB) MD and CEO.
He served as IBA Chairman from 2021 to 2022 and again from 2022 to 2023. Sunil Mehta, his predecessor at IBA, served as the association's chairman from 2018 to 2019 and as MD and CEO of PNB from May 2017 to September 2019.
From January 2020 to September 2024, Mehta served as IBA CE. The recently appointed CEO of the IBA is a certified chartered accountant. His three decades of banking expertise span four banks: PNB (MD & CEO), Union Bank of India (as Executive Director), UCO Bank (MD & CEO), and Allahabad Bank (now Indian Bank).
