Prime Minster inaugurated Kandrori steel Steel Processing Unit of SAIL
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated Steel Authority of India Ltd’s Steel Processing Unit (SPU) at Kandrori, Himachal Pradesh at a function held in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
A company statement said that this unit would produce TMT bars that are resistant to earthquake and also other grades of TMT bars. To increase steel consumption, especially in semi urban and rural areas, SAIL had decided to set up units in various states where integrated steel plants were not there.
The unit has a TMT Bar Mill of capacity 1 lakh tonne per year. The input billets for producing the TMT would be sourced internally from SAIL. The hot trials at the TMT Bar Mill commenced in June this year and around 1,200 tonnes have already been rolled under the commissioning test period.
