Govt appoints Amitabh Banerjee as Managing Director of IRFC
New Delhi: Industry veteran Shri Amitabh Banerjee has been appointed as the Managing Director at Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC). Banerjee has been working in the capacity of Director Finance, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) since October 2013 before joining the board of IRFC.
Banerjee, an IRAS Cadre officer of 1988 Civil ServicesBatch, was appointed as Managing Director on the IRFC Board on October 12, 2019. He has a Masters in Commerce and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI). He was a rank holder (13th position in All India Merit List) in the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2). He was a recipient of National Talent Search Scholarship (NTS) for 5 years (1980 - 1985).
He also served at different capacities in organisations like Director Finance in Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited , General Manager (Finance) in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) .
